During these uncertain times, many restaurants are offering takeout, delivery and curbside service to help in surviving this crisis.  Other small businesses are suffering due to a stop in foot traffic and people staying home. Here are 6 ways to help small businesses while quarantine is in effect.

1. Buy Gift Cards

Purchasing a gift card to your favorite shop or restaurant is an easy way to help out small businesses and when this crisis is over, you’ll have lots of fun shopping and dining too!

2. Order In

Order food for delivery.  Lots of restaurants are counting on you to keep them in mind even though you can’t dine in for a while.  There are many delivery service apps available and many restaurants have their staff doing deliveries while this crisis is in full swing.

3. Tip a Little More

Even if you typically tip less or not at all for pickup and delivery, please be generous if you’re able to.  Keep in mind that these people are doing everything they can do for their families and businesses until things return to normal.  It helps others and contributes to the spirit of community that always makes things a little bit better.

4. Use Credit or Debit Cards

When you go shopping, use a credit card or debit card instead of cash (for now).  Paper money and coins pass through so many hands and carry all types of germs.  Limiting the amount of cash you use can help limit the spread of those germs, which is especially important right now.

5. Look at Small Business Loans

Health and government officials are working together to maintain the safety, security, and health of small business owners.  Please check out the U.S. Small Business Administration website for further information at www.sba.gov

6. Be Patient

In many cases, employees are working overtime to keep shelves stocked, unload trucks, and answer mounds of questions! Remember that they are tired!  They want to meet your needs as much as possible! Check out your local Chamber of Commerce; most Chambers are working hard to share the word about local business availability for you during this time.
