Sterk, Attorney at Law, will be discussing “Parenting 101: A Legal Perspective for Mental Health Providers.”One of the biggest issues of conflict within family law cases are cases which involve children. As mental health providers, chances are, a large number of your clients may be affected by parenting issues that are intertwined with family law matters.
Within the Illinois Marriage and Dissolution of Marriage Act, there are specific factors which relate to parenting matters including factors for parenting time and decision making and many of these factors can cause unnecessary mental, emotional, and legal upset if the parties don’t co-parent correctly.

Know the Issues – What are common issues that clients may face in a family law case?
Know The Responses – What are the legal responses and resources that you should be aware of?
Know Your Plan For Your Clients – Be aware and develop strategies to be able to develop a plan for your clients and relevant parties
This will be an informative and interactive session so providers can learn the Illinois law process and ways to incorporate this knowledge into potential courses of treatment.
