As an attorney and Team Leader of our Family Law Group, Gwendolyn meets with potential clients and develops the initial strategy for each case by analyzing the needs of the client and assessing the most effective approach to accomplish their primary objectives and best interest. Gwendolyn plays an integral role in every client’s case, and directs each team member according to specific client needs on a daily basis. Gwendolyn regularly appears in court conducting pretrials, hearings and trials. Gwendolyn’s goal is to have fully informed clients who understand their options. The relationship formed with each client is key to the success of the case. Gwendolyn and the Family Law team believe in a holistic approach to servicing our clients and promote counseling for each in a manner that helps them move on with integrity and dignity. Gwendolyn successfully started her own law firm, Gwendolyn J. Sterk and the Family Law Group, P.C., in 2015.

What do clients look for in an attorney?

I believe clients look for a strong advocate who understands both the legal issues as well as the position of the court when the judges have discretion. It is our position as attorneys that clients are also looking for direction for ancillary issues which we address within our Resource Center.

Why did you choose Family Law?

I never intended to become a Family Law Attorney.  I thought I would use my law degree and education to teach college.  Doors opened and here I am all these years later.  Life happens for the good.

What is your greatest fulfillment as a Family Law attorney?

My greatest fulfillment as a Family Law attorney is to see my clients as the years pass and how they have recovered and found the courage to move forward following such a devastating time in their lives.  I am truly fulfilled in knowing that my team was successful in making a difference in the lives of our clients to allow them to move on with integrity and dignity.

What do you like to do in your spare time?

In my spare time, I enjoy visiting and exploring nature. I have a special fondness for the U.S. National Parks and It’s animals, and most especially, Bears!

What is your greatest accomplishment?

My greatest accomplishment is having such a powerful and close team by my side.

What is a fun Fact about you?

A fun fact about me is that our firm dog “DUKE” is my very first dog.  I truly love and care for him very much.

What is your favorite Holiday and why?

My favorite holiday is Easter, because for me it represents the eternal hope for mankind.

If you could be any animal what would it be and why?

If I could be any animal I would be a BEAR.    I have had the pleasure of seeing many bears in the wild.
