Jennifer earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Communications from DePaul University of Chicago and her Juris Doctor degree in Phoenix, Arizona. Jennifer has focused her legal career in criminal and family law, and has also worked with State and Local governments to resolve small business issues. She has the ability to empathize with clients through the strenuous times of a divorce, while strongly advocating in court and keeping the client focused on the end result. Jennifer has recently joined our team at Gwendolyn J. Sterk Family Law Group, P.C.

What do clients look for in an attorney?

I think clients are looking for an attorney who they can trust and relate to. Someone who they can lean on through the most stressful time but also someone who will be honest and look out for their future.

Why did you choose Family Law?

I chose Family Law because I wanted to be able to help families. Although most of the time when you need a Family Attorney, the family is going through the toughest time, but I want to be the person to take a little of that burden off of the family.

What is your greatest fulfillment as a family law attorney?

I love when a client tells me that they feel they were heard and feel confident with the outcome of their case.

How do you get away from stress and separate your work from your home life?

I will go for a run, or watch Hope Floats with a big bowl of extra buttered popcorn.

Who is your hero?

I definitely have to go with my Mom and Dad. They have always shown me unwavering support and love, and believed in me even when I did not believe in myself. They have not only guided me as a parent but they have lead by example as to what it means to be independent, confident and selfless.

What do you do in your spare time?

I enjoy being outside, whether it’s going for a walk around the neighborhood or finding a hiking trail.

How do you like working with Gwendolyn J. Sterk and the Family Law Group, P.C.

Everyone here is wonderful. It is truly a team atmosphere and it has been apparent from day one that the Sterk Family Law Group truly wants everyone to succeed.

What is your favorite holiday and why?

Christmas. Everyone just gets in a better mood during Christmas time, and no matter what a Christmas tree and fire place makes that magical warmth that you had as a kid come back.

Are you connected to the counties in which you practice?

I have lived in DuPage County my entire life, minus a few years when I moved to Arizona and New York, and have primarily worked in Cook and DuPage Counties throughout my legal career

If you could be any animal, what would you be and why?

I would be a snow leopard. They are just cool!
